Tidal Energy
Carnsore Site
Lir Energy have been investigating tidal stream energy around the coast of Ireland since 1999. In 2002, the company commissioned a study to identify areas within the Irish Sea as having potential for harnessing tidal energy. The findings from this study indicate that a site off the coast of Carnsore, Co. Wexford has the most commercial potential for developing a fully operational tidal energy farm.

Site Led Investigation
There are currently a large number of tidal energy devices being developed worldwide. These devices vary in design and need to be selected for their suitability to particular sites. LIR believe that by researching the site, devices can then be selected to match site characteristics and conditions, thus optimising the amount of tidal energy that can be captured for the production of clean, renewable power.
